Pac-12 Player Profile: Washington’s Trent McDuffie

Washington’s Trent McDuffie

POSITION: Defensive Back
HEIGHT: 5-11
CLASS: Sophomore
HOME TOWN: Westminster, Calif
HIGH SCHOOL: St. John Bosco H.S.

After flying under the national media’s radar as a freshman and sophomore, Washington’s Trent McDuffie has finally begun receiving the recognition he deserves.

And with good reason.

Over the course of his true freshman and pandemic-shortened sophomore seasons, the 5-foot-11, 195-pound junior from Westminster, Calif., has logged 59 tackles (46 solo), four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two interceptions.

In a recent Mock NFL Draft, Pro Football Focus (PFF) projected McDuffie as the 16th overall pick, which would make him the highest-drafted defensive back in Washington football history.

Moreover, McDuffie is one of just three Power 5 outside corners to score a PFF coverage grade above 75.0 in both man and zone coverage since 2019. He also ranks second in run defense in the last two seasons.

Opposing offensives will likely think twice this season before challenging McDuffie, who has missed only two of his 64 tackle attempts in his 17-game career.
